If we’re still moving forward, there’s a reason for it. An Interview with Joe Casey (Protomartyr)

Protomartyr make a triumphant return with their seventh studio album, Hotel Usona [out September 25]. When a band has been around for 16 years and released so many records, it’s hard to surprise listeners with something new or fresh. Yet this Detroit band proves that it’s still possible. There are previously unexplored influences from Middle Eastern music, and sonically, this is their most powerful work to date – and, in my opinion, one of their best albums. The sheer richness of the arrangements is almost overwhelming. Producer Dave Fridmann certainly deserves a lot of credit for that [he’s produced 12 albums by The Flaming Lips, including Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, as well as Oracular Spectacular by MGMT, Some Loud Thunder by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Marauder by Interpol, and Drums and Guns by Low].

Skoro wciąż idziemy naprzód, jest ku temu jakiś powód. Wywiad z Joe Caseyem (Protomartyr)

Protomartyr wracają w glorii i chwale ze swoim siódmym albumem studyjnym, Hotel Usona [premiera 25 września]. Kiedy zespół istnieje już 16 lat i ma za sobą tyle płyt, ciężko jest zaskoczyć czymś nowym czy świeżym. Jednak ten zespół z Detroit udowadnia, że jest to możliwe. Pojawiają się nieobecne wcześniej inspiracje muzyką Bliskiego Wschodu. W sensie brzmieniowym to ich najpotężniejsze dzieło – i moim zdaniem – jedna z ich najlepszych płyt. Bogactwo aranżacyjne wręcz przygniata. Na pewno spora w tym zasługa producenta Dave’a Fridmana [który wyprodukował 12 albumów The Flaming Lips – w tym Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots – ale też między innymi Oracular Spectacular MGMT, Some Loud Thunder Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Marauder Interpolu czy Drums and Guns Low]. Unsound 2026: trzecie ogłoszenie programowe

W 2026 roku Unsound odbędzie się w dwóch miastach: Warszawie (2–6 października) oraz Krakowie (8–11 października). Tematem przewodnim tegorocznej edycji jest SOFT POWER.  W obu miastach odbędą się osobne koncerty (nie będą się powtarzać), a połączy je Pociąg zwany Unsoundem, który wyruszy w trasę 7 października.
