Rozbita Tesla. Wywiad z Jordanem Dreyerem z La Dispute

Robiąc research, dowiedziałem się, że niektórzy dziennikarze, którzy rozmawiali z Jordanem Dreyerem przy okazji premiery płyty No One Was Driving the Car w 2025 r. dostali prawie 50-stronnicowe opracowania tekstów z tej płyty, aby móc się przygotować do rozmowy. Nic dziwnego – wystarczy posłuchać jakiejkolwiek płyty La Dispute, aby zobaczyć, że dzieła tego wokalisty to w zasadzie wielowymiarowe i bardzo obszerne powieści. To samo zdaje się dotyczyć samych wywiadów. I choć złapałem Jordana na backstage’u warszawskiej Proximy tuż przed wyprzedanym marcowym koncertem, efektem jest chyba najdłuższa, najciekawsza, a przy okazji najmilsza rozmowa, jaką przeprowadziłem na Undertone. O zmianach, TikTokowej popularności, technologii, skomplikowanym procesie tworzenia muzyki La Dispute. O życiu. Przeczytajcie koniecznie.

Tesla crashing. An interview with Jordan Dreyer of La Dispute

While doing research, I learned that some journalists who spoke with Jordan Dreyer around the release of No One Was Driving the Car in 2025 received nearly 50-page analyses of the album’s lyrics to help them prepare for the interview. It’s no surprise – just listening to any La Dispute record makes it clear that this vocalist’s works are essentially multi-layered, highly expansive novels. The same seems to apply to the interviews themselves.

Even though I caught Jordan backstage at Warsaw’s Proxima just before a sold-out March show, the result is probably the longest, most interesting, and at the same time the most pleasant conversation I’ve conducted for Undertone.
